Unique Welding Alloys  (0.07 MB)

Introducing the Alpha Arc Evolution DC Inverter Series, from Thermamax

Unique Welding Alloys, a division of Weldamax, is proud to bring to you yet another superior product, offering engineers even more choice and convenience.

The Alpha Arc Evolution DC Inverter Series from Thermamax – a Weldamax-owned brand – promises great performance and output and is ideally suited for all maintenance and production applications where mobility is key.

Thermamax quality promise

As can be expected with the high-quality Thermamax brand, the new Evolution range uses cutting-edge technology to ensure the highest output.

“The internal components and build are of a fantastic quality, improving upon old designs where needed, making the machines an excellent complement to our existing Thermamax range”, says Thomas Taljaard, business development manager of Weldamax. “For example, the PC board components are of a higher quality, making it possible to withstand more tolerance to heat and supply voltage fluctuations.”

There are currently two machines on offer in the series – the 160Amp and the 200Amp. They both have a metal and plastic bracket handle system, which makes handling them far easier. Weighing only 8kg, the machines are therefore light and easy to move around, and they are also generator-friendly.

Furthermore, because of the ease of strike and welding there is minimised wastage of electrodes. “These new machines are excellent performers and should make a positive difference in engineering welding processes,” assures Taljaard.

Tried and tested

As with all new products introduced to the market by UWA, the new inverter machines have undergone testing in Weldamax’s in-house service department as well as been sent to end-users to undergo field-testing in a conventional environment. They underwent +- 100mm weld runs for two continuous weeks with different size and type of electrodes.

The results were exemplary: the end-users complimented the machines for their excellent production output and quality parts. Both machines were tested at the load bank in the service centre, running at full Ampage, with both of them outperforming their 60% duty cycle without shutting down to cool off. The robust Alpha Arc Evolution DC Inverter Series machines therefore have superior parts with excellent cooling systems that have been designed to enable better airflow, thereby increasing productivity.

After being returned to the Weldamax service centre, the machines were opened and all components were inspected and tested. “The machines were placed back on the load bank and again, performed over and above their 60% duty cycle limits, therefore attesting their superior quality parts and durability,” says Taljaard.

Key product positives:

  • Sufficient striking voltage ensures easy striking, low spatter and very smooth arc and operation.
  • The hot start capability makes re-striking of a welding electrode much easier.
  • The open current voltage is 65 volts, which improves striking of all electrodes as tested in the service centre.

The new Evolution range is:

  • Lightweight
  • Fully portable
  • Generator-friendly

Weld applications:

  • Stainless steel
  • Alloy steel
  • Carbon steel
  • Copper and other cold metals

Top 3 operational characteristics:

  • 60% duty cycle enables effective productivity with less downtime
  • Good capacity of force compensation and multi-use
  • Can be used with mild steel, stainless steel coated electrodes and TIG welding
