Ethos Capital lists on JSE
Ethos Private Equity CEO Stuart MacKenzie, Ethos Capital CEO Peter Hayward-Butt and Ethos Capital nonexecutive director Michael Pfaff
Mauritian-based Ethos Capital on Friday listed on the JSE in its Financials – Specialty Finance sector.
Its shares started trading at R10.26 apiece, giving it a market capitalisation of R1.85-billion.
“We are proud to be listing on the JSE today. The overwhelmingly positive response to our placement affirms the strength of our company’s differentiators and prospects.
“We look forward to investing alongside Ethos Private Equity (EPE) into high-potential businesses, supporting economic growth and job creation in the long term, while simultaneously delivering value to our shareholders,” Ethos Capital CEO Peter Hayward-Butt said.
Ethos Capital last month announced plans to list on the JSE and, prior to the listing, it placed 180-million A ordinary shares at R10 apiece with qualifying investors to raise R1.8-billion.
The company believes the listing will offer investors long-term capital appreciation by directly and indirectly investing in a diversified portfolio of unlisted investments managed by fund manager and adviser EPE.
“Growth is a central principle of EPE’s strategy: value is added by actively transforming the strategy, operations and finances of investee businesses, striving to make them ‘best-in-class’.
“Through pioneering thought leadership, creativity and innovation, EPE has developed a long record of sustainable investor returns,” EPE CEO Stuart MacKenzie said on Friday.
EPE has, in its 32-year history, invested in 104 acquisitions of which 91 have been realised, delivering investment returns with a gross realised internal rate of return of 37.4%.
