Supplier of mobile and semimobile crushing, screening, washing and materials handling equipment Pilot Crushtec reports that its regional marketing strategy, which is based on having professional representation in every province, is proving to be effective.
“Domestic sales have shown a sharp upward trend but what is really interesting is that much of this growth has been achieved off the beaten track.
“Some of our most dramatic gains have been in rural areas where the presence of a dedicated regional sales engineer has enabled us to build up and improve relationships with new and existing customers. Simul- taneously, this has unlocked opportunities for business development in diverse industries,” states Pilot Crushtec sales director Graham Kleinhans.
He points out that most of the company’s representatives hold engineering qualifications and are, therefore, able to provide the best advice when it comes to offering solutions for specific applications.
“Over the past six months, we enjoyed exponential growth in the Northern and the North West Cape, where industries like road building and maintenance, quarrying, diamond mining and the extraction of chrome ore are alive and well,” he says.
New and refurbished product sales to four customers alone are worth in excess of R15-million.
Quarrying and road stone specialist Vryburg Crushers has acquired an exact replica of its existing plant, which comprises a Pilot Modular/TRIO MJ2436 jaw crusher, a Pilot Modular MC90 cone crusher, a refurbished Twister AC08, two Pilot Modular/TRIO DD3615 double-deck screens and several Pilot Modular conveyors.
Alluvial diamond miner Steyns Diamante substantially increased its existing Pilot Crushtec fleet with the purchase of six mobile Terex Finlay 883 heavy-duty scalping screens and a Terex Finlay 984 triple-deck horizontal screen.
Two significant first-time buyers in the region are OMV Crushers and Metromax Chrome Ore Processing & Beneficiation, which bought Pilot Crushtec products on the basis of their suit- ability for specific applications.
OMV Crushers recently took delivery of a Terex Finlay C-1540 mobile cone crusher, which is being used for a long-term high-volume contract to produce G2 road stone.
Metromax is now enjoying the benefits of using a Pilot Modular BRO605 impact crusher to increase production. This product has proved to be suitable for this specific application.
Kleinhans says Pilot Crush-tec’s experience in the Northern Cape, as well as the North West province, goes to show what can be achieved by simply being there for the customer.
‘We have made it our priority to continually knock on doors and make it known that Pilot Crushtec is now a permanent presence in the region. It has taken time, but people have got the message that we are here to look after all our customers, irrespective of size.”
He adds that Pilot Crushtec’s mission is not merely to sell products but to provide lasting solutions, which will add value to its customers’ businesses.
Further, he notes that distance is no obstacle when it comes to service. Should the need arise, the company’s mobile service arm, SupportLink, can have a technician on site within hours and, in the event of a customer in, say, Prieska or Kimberley urgently needing a part, it will be sent overnight or even over a weekend.
“Service is the cornerstone on which we found our business relationships. We aim to provide world-class service to all our customers, regardless of location,” says Kleinhans.
