Bulk handling equipment company Flexicon’s new multipurpose filler dispenses bulk solid materials into boxes, drums and bulk bags by weight.
The unit features a fill head that has a dust-tight seal, which protects against the inlet spout of bulk bags and connects to transition adapters that seal against open boxes or drums.
The filler uses the company’s Twin-Centrepost frame to maximise strength and improve accessibility to the fill head while simplifying construction and reducing cost.
It is mounted on load cells that are tied into a programmable logic controller, which controls upstream devices to fill containers at a high trickle-feed rate, to increase the number of containers filled per hour, while still achieving the required accuracies.
An automated vibratory system raises and vibrates the container deck to densify material, stabilising the container. The low-profile configuration of the filler also allows for the removal of filled containers using a pallet jack, eliminating the need for a forklift truck.
Features related to bulk bag-filling include manual fill-head height adjust-ment to accommodate all popular bag sizes, pneumatically retractable bag hooks, an inflatable connector to seal the bag inlet spout and a feed chute outlet port for dust-free air displacement during filling.
A transition hood is connected to the fill head using quick-action clamps to fill boxes from 915 mm to 1 220 mm per side and 990 mm to 1 117 mm in overall height.
For the filling of drums from 114 ℓ to 208 ℓ, a pneumatically actuated, tele-scoping drum-filling adapter swivels inward for rapid connection to the fill head using quick-action clamps, after which an inlet plate is sealed against the rim of the drum.
Filling cycles are initiated with a manual push button or by electrical contact closure, after which filling and any required disconnection of the equip- ment from the container inlet are auto-matic.
The filler is constructed of carbon steel with a durable industrial finish, or stainless steel finished to industrial, food, dairy or pharmaceuticals standards, and is offered with a mechanical or pneumatic conveyor delivery system integrated with the user’s upstream process equipment or other material source.
The company also manufactures bulk bag dischargers, bulk bag conditioners, drum box and container tippers, bag dump stations, weigh batching and blending systems, and engineered plantwide bulk handling systems with automated controls.
