Engen, a leading supplier of lubricants to the agricultural sector, plans to unleash some hi-tech wizardry and an exciting competition at NAMPO Harvest Day 2015, to wow the 70 000 loyal fans expected at the annual show just outside Bothaville from 12 to 15 May. The company, whose commitment to NAMPO goes back 38 years in a co-managing partnership with Grain SA, will stage a state-of-the-art obstacle course competition at this year’s show, which again is expected to attract stakeholders in farming, supplier industries, government and global markets.

Heli in a handbasket
The eye-popping obstacle course contest, involving helicopter drones, will have the machinery-loving NAMPO faithful gasping for breath. Heli drones have advanced tremendously and can weave with lightning-fast precision through, over and around intricate terrain. The competition is open to all guests who enter their details on the iPad provided on the day. The fastest time around the course will be recorded on the leader board, and the draw for the winner will take place after the event.

Engen Jacket Promo
Engen’s sleeveless all-weather jacket, valued at R700, will once again be on promotion this year for anyone buying a 210-litre drum (or equivalent) of lubricating oil.
This promotion runs at all participating co-operatives and distribution centres. For further details contact Engen’s client service centre at 08600 36436.

Loyal partnership
Hercie Venter, Engen National Sales Manager - Lubes Distributors, says the company’s long support of NAMPO is only one indication of a deeper relationship with agriculture and further includes a heritage of quality products and service, as well as long-standing mutual loyalty.
“Farming is important to us. We have supported agriculture in South Africa for decades in NAMPO and many other initiatives, and take a lot of satisfaction from the knowledge passed on in that way, as well as the scientific, business and technological innovation shared.”

Tradition of quality
Engen lubricants have been trusted for generations to keep things running smoothly on the farm, he continues. “With a wide range of technologically advanced products developed with SA’s extreme and erratic weather conditions in mind, you can rest assured you are getting the best product for any situation, come what may.”

The agricultural industry agrees. “Wind, rain, heat and dust put a lot of strain on farm vehicles and machinery. Engen lubricants are designed for these extreme conditions,” says Rudi Barnard, Massey Ferguson Dealer in Hartebeesfontein. “Engen uses advanced technology when we develop our lubricants because optimal reliability of machinery is a crucial component of farming success,” continues Venter.  Frikkie Kirsten, farmer at Makwassie, supports this view. “My planters are the heart of my business. Engen lubricants keep them running day in, day out.”   Hendrik Bester, a farmer from Hoopstad, echoes these sentiments. “I’ve been using Engen lubricants exclusively for the past 21 years. Other brands just don’t come close.”

About NAMPO
NAMPO Harvest Day is the largest agricultural exhibition in the southern hemisphere.  As always, Engen will sponsor staff to man the gates and sell tickets at the show, says Venter. The company’s lubricants and fuels will again collaborate on one stage, exhibiting Engen’s full range of both product lines aimed at agri-customers.  In addition, Engen will reprise its exhibition of a range of vintage tractors at the show – a unique feature that has attracted enthusiasts for years.  This year, a summit on future food sustainability and successful land reform will once more provide an intellectual edge to the show.
