As a progressive energy and solutions partner committed to enriching lives for a sustainable future, Engen was thrilled to participate in yet another successful 'Investing in Africa' Mining Indaba, boasting approximately 8,000 attendees from 104 countries and 60 government representatives.

The Indaba's theme for this year, "Embracing the power of positive disruption: A bold new future for African mining," underscored both the industry and Engen's dedication to positive change and sustainability.

Engen exhibited under the banner of "Always Moving (because Mines are always moving)," reflecting its commitment to supply chain excellence, service, and community upliftment. Engaging with approximately 350 visitors at their stand over four days, from large established mining houses to junior miners, Engen's interactive stand highlighted its world-class manufacturing facilities and market-leading supply chain footprint across the continent.

"We're excited to have once again been a part of the largest mining event in Africa, showcasing how we support supply chain and service excellence on the continent, coupled with our numerous CSI initiatives, focusing on uplifting communities in the areas in which we operate,” commented Drikus Kotze, head of Engen’s Commercial business.

“Our stand was a collaborative effort combining our lubricants, commercial, international business, and corporate teams, aimed at showcasing a unified 'Engen in Mining' value proposition," added Kotze.

With a diverse range of quality products and mining solutions on display, the exhibit also served as a platform to spotlight Engen's commitment to Corporate Social Investment (CSI) projects, localisation initiatives, SMME, and enterprise development strategies.

Sharveen Maharaj, Engen’s head of Lubricants, stated that the company has made impressive strides in the sustainability arena "as well as various enterprise development and social upliftment initiatives."

The event highlighted Engen’s localisation initiatives, showcasing their investment in Enterprise Development through a partnership with Resegofetse Business Solutions, a local woman-owned SMME that has seen over 400% growth in business since partnering with Engen. In addition, Engen has secured premises and a new vehicle for the business.

With Engen’s localisation and CSI initiatives spanning Education, Health Safety & Environment, Community Wellbeing, and support for People with Disabilities, the Mining Indaba was an ideal opportunity to showcase the strides the company has made in the sustainability arena as well as in various enterprise development and social upliftment initiatives.

Engen’s presence at this year’s Mining Indaba was well-received by the broader mining community and will go a long way in entrenching the company as a progressive energy and solutions partner enriching lives for a sustainable future.
