Leaders in South Africa's energy industry will meet at an informal two-day summit at Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge in the Pilanesberg national park on May 4 and May 5 to discuss issues arising from the country's multibillion-rand energy expansion programme.
High on the agenda, will be the opportunities for infrastructure development and manufacturing being created by the programme, which is central to the country's R787-billion infrastructure investment push for the coming three years.
Department of Energy Director-General Nelisiwe Magubane will address the summit on the details of the new Integrated Resource Plan.
Other speakers include the chairperson of the South African National Energy Association, Brian Statham, a widely experienced Eskom veteran, who will discuss "energy today for tomorrow's world".
Phindile Nzimande, CEO of EDI Holdings, will speak on funding for electricity generation and distribution, and Chantal Naidoo, principal investment officer at the Development Bank of Southern Africa, will outline development finance engagement in the energy sector.
The head of utilities and infrastructure coverage at Standard Bank, Paul Eardley-Taylor, will discuss China's role in Africa.
