Affordable, reliable and environmentally safe fuel plays a vital role in the South African economy. A division of CNG Holdings, NGV Gas, has spearheaded the launch of a new Natural Gas filling point at the Ener-Gi Fuel Corporation site in Johannesburg central. This station has been designed to cater to businesses with fleets of various vehicle sizes and engine variants. The launch of this and many other filling points by NGV Gas heralds a new era in fuel management and savings.

Ener-Gi Fuel Corporation manages an excess of 35 Fuel Stations across the country, adding the new Johannesburg Central Station Natural Gas station to the expansion.

Businesses that rely on mobility to generate income have fuel costs listed as one of their highest business expenses. The introduction of Natural Gas into the fuel market will add a dynamic sorely needed by many businesses across Gauteng.

Switching to Natural Gas

Through simple conversion, Natural Gas will offer stable pricing, continuous reliable supply and better vehicle efficiency for fleets ranging from 1 to over 100 vehicles. In essence there are few limits to the benefits of using Natural Gas. A recent case study by NGV Gas has shown that the CNG powered vehicle ran at a cost of R 0.51/km while the petrol powered vehicle ran at R 1.27/km. The case study endorsed by InstaToll entails analysis on a Nissan NP200 LDV Bakkie operating between two key toll gates in Gauteng. InstaToll has seen lower maintenance cost and the environmental tax benefit of using a NGV (Natural Gas Vehicle). The properties of Natural Gas have afforded it the title as one of the world’s best preforming fuels in comparison to its fossil fuel counterparts – Petrol and Diesel.

Over and above the significant savings, there is a tax benefit in terms of the Natural Gas amount vatable compared to petrol which is zero-rated. Under the incentive tax codes for gas powered vehicles SARS will refund a large amount to all of the conversion costs dependent on mileage travelled.

As many businesses know, the price of traditional fuel has a significant impact on profitability. For long-term success, businesses need to utilise the expanding availability of an economic, easily maintainable, and environmental fuel. Ener-Gi Fuel Corporation looks to help fleet companies sustain their businesses better while making a come-back from a difficult year.
