Brazil-based global major aerospace group Embraer reported, on Monday, its commercial and executive aircraft deliveries for both the first half, and the second quarter, of this year. It also reported on orders and developments for the company at last week’s Farnborough International Airshow in the UK.

Overall, Embraer delivered 46 commercial and executive jets during the first half of this year (1H22), of which 32 were delivered during the second quarter (2Q22). Of the 1H22 deliveries, 17 were commercial airliners and 29 were business jets, while the 2Q22 deliveries were divided into 11 airliners and 21 business jets.

As of June 30 this year, the group had a confirmed order backlog worth $17.8-billion. This was 12% above the $15.9-billion recorded on the same date last year. It was also the biggest order backlog recorded since the end of 2Q18.

A significant development during 1H22 was the launch by Embraer of a passenger to freight (P2F) conversion for its E190 and E195 airliners. The converted aircraft will be designated the E190F and the E195F respectively. In May, Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) signed an agreement for up to ten “conversion positions” for E190F and/or E195F aircraft. In June, an undisclosed customer placed a firm order with Embraer for P2F conversions of up to ten of its existing fleet of E190 and/or E195 airliners.

Subsequently, at the Farnborough Airshow (and so after the 1H22 reporting period), NAC concluded an agreement with airfreight operator Astral Aviation, to supply it with two E190Fs. Astral, a Kenyan operator, will thus become the launch customer for the E190F.

Other developments at Farnborough included Canada’s Porter Airlines buying a further 20 new generation E195-E2 airliners, to take their total to 50 firm orders and 50 “purchase rights”. And a previous order, from the Alaska Air Group of the US, for eight more E175 airliners, plus 13 purchase rights, was made public.

To return to 1H22 and 2Q22 deliveries, during the first half Embraer airliner deliveries were composed of 12 E175s and five E195-E2s, of which eight E175s and three E195-E2s were delivered during the second quarter. Business jet deliveries in 1H22 comprised 18 light jets (three Phenom 100s and 15 Phenom 300s) and 11 midsize jets (five Praetor 500s and six Praetor 600s). Of these, 12 light jets (two Phenom 100s and ten Phenom 300s) and nine midsize jets (five Praetor 500s and four Praetor 600s) were delivered during 2Q22.
