EES Ernst & Young release  (0.07 MB)

The new Ernst & Young Johannesburg office currently under construction in the rapidly expanding Sandton Central Business District (CBD) epitomizes the latest in leading edge technology and design.  Integral to this is the installation from day one of Information & Communication Technologies and intelligent infrastructure.

EES, an ISO 9000 certified and ISO 20000 compliant professional engineering management company, was appointed by Ernst & Young to co-ordinate all IT related works associated with their new head office.  EES is also responsible for ensuring all the IT commissioning criteria are met.

This is the most recent project in a series of high profile developments that EES has project managed.  The projects range from corporate office headquarters, such as Alexander Forbes which is adjacent to the new Ernst & Young site, to international airports and global multi-purpose stadia.

EES provides engineering solutions to infrastructure, industrial and built environment applications, and specialises in the integration of multiple system infrastructure.  It operates in mission critical environments in Africa and beyond.

The new headquarters, located at 102 Rivonia Rd opposite the Gautrain Sandton Station, will place Ernst & Young at the centre of South Africa’s economic hub.  The offices’ central position in the Sandton CBD, complemented by the unique, eye-catching architecture designed for the building, make it set to become a local landmark.

“The intelligent infrastructure we at EES are managing comprises a number of sub-projects.  These include the data centre, structured cabling and networking components, as well as audio visual and security integration within the Ernst & Young IT network,” says Jaco Cronje, Director at EES.  “The project management extends beyond the usual bricks and mortar challenges to include the integration of many Ernst & Young programs into the new facility. Ernst & Young is establishing themselves as an employer of choice through key technologies available at their new head office.”

The headquarters are expected to be completed during November 2013 allowing staff to move in during December 2013.  “The deadline for the completion of the construction of this ambitious project is tight.  The very aggressive timeline requires well planned logistics and detailed scheduling of activities and dependencies on other systems,” states Cronje.  He adds that work streams are being carefully managed integrating Ernst & Young’s global best practices with the local environment.

The new offices will accommodate the growth Ernst & Young is experiencing, and the building has been described as ”an investment in Ernst & Young and Africa’s future.”

“Many corporates are currently developing their bespoke new office space due to the increasing need for greater building efficiencies and improved productivity, integral to which is intelligent infrastructure and IT.”
