Name of the Project
EcoPro CAM Canada LP.

Location
Quebec, Canada.

Project Owner/s
EcoProBM, SK On and Ford.

Project Description
SK On, EcoProBM and Ford plan to build a cathode manufacturing facility to provide materials that, ultimately, will supply batteries for Ford’s future electric vehicles (EVs).

The new 280 000 m2 facility is part of Ford’s plan to localise key battery raw materials processing in regions where it produces EVs.

The facility will manufacture cathode active materials (CAMs) and high-quality nickel cobalt manganese for rechargeable batteries that are targeting greater performance levels and improved EV range, compared with existing products, owing in part to EcoPro’s core shell gradient technology. The plant will have the capacity to produce up to 45 000 t/y of CAMs.

Potential Job Creation
The facility will accommodate about 345 new jobs for Canada – from engineers, sales and service professionals to coop positions for students from local universities and colleges in Québec.

Capital Expenditure
C$1.2-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
Production is expected to begin in the first half of 2026.

Latest Developments
Construction started in August 2023.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
Not stated.
