JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – TSX-V-listed Independence Gold has started a reverse circulation (RC) drilling programme at its 100%-owned Boulevard project, 135 km south of Dawson City, Canada, and will also be undertaking a rotary air blast (RAB) drilling programme at its recently optioned Rosebute property, 58 km south of Dawson City.

These drilling programmes will form Phase 2 of the company's $1.5-million Yukon Exploration programme in the White Gold District.

About 2 000 m of RC drilling is planned on the Boulevard project, which is 25 km south of Kinross Gold Corporation’s Golden Saddle deposit, and contiguous to Goldcorp’s Coffee deposit, to test the Denali and Sunrise-Sunset zones.

Independence noted on Thursday that the Coffee Creek Fault system is an important structure that controls the placement of the 2.16-million-ounce Coffee deposit. This structure continues to the west and is interpreted to extend into the Denali area, where soil sampling identifies a 1.2-km-long multi-element geochemical anomaly.

Meanwhile, up to 1 500 m of RAB drilling is planned for the Hudbay Zone on the Rosebute. The Hudbay Zone hosts three, north-trending gold-in-soil anomalies, each greater than 1 km in length and 150 m in width.
