Triton Minerals Ltd  (0.17 MB)

Company Announcement - DRA has announced that it has been appointed as Lead Study Manager for the definitive feasibility study of the Triton Mozambique Graphite Project by Triton Minerals Ltd. The TMG Project comprises the Nicanda Hill/Cobra Plains, Ancuabe and Balama projects.

Nicanda Hill is the world’s largest known graphite deposit, comprising 1,457 Mt at 10.7% total graphitic carbon and 0.27% vanadium pentoxide, classified as indicated and inferred.  Metallurgical testwork has shown that high purity graphite concentrate of 94 to 97% may be produced by simple flotation. Both Ancuabe and Balama South contain some of the world’s highest quality jumbo flake graphite. DRA’s Perth office will coordinate and manage the overall DFS, complemented by its Perth-based mining engineering partner ORElogy.  In addition, services will be provided by several groups within the Johannesburg office of DRA, covering areas such as infrastructure, logistics, transportation and regional cost estimation.  A number of other specialist consultants have been appointed directly by Triton, including Environmental Coastal Services for environmental studies and Golder Associates for tailings storage facility studies.

The study will commence with a number of options studies to pre-feasibility level, which will then form the basis for the DFS.  Included in the option studies will be the investigation of the Ancuabe and Balama South graphite and their potential for integration into the overall TMG project.

Clive Hart, CEO of DRA Pacific, comments:  “We are extremely pleased to be appointed by Triton Minerals as Lead Study Manager for this major graphite project.  We believe that DRA offers significant advantages to clients such as Triton, who are Australia based with projects in Africa.  Such advantages include local study capabilities by Africa-experienced personnel, local mining engineering support via ORElogy, the complementary capabilities of our Johannesburg office, our extensive experience throughout Africa, and our ability to continue through the project delievery phase”.

Hart continues:  “A further major advantage DRA offers is the opportunity for the detail design, procurement and project delivery phases to be carried out by the highly experienced personnel of our Johannesburg office at significantly lower cost rates compared to the execution those phases from Australia”. The TMG DFS is due for completion in late 2015.
