JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Multidisciplinary global engineering group DRA has appointed Pierre Julien to lead the company’s global origination team as executive VP origination.

With more than 22 years of senior level industry experience, Julien has been tasked with identifying and accessing new business channels, seeking opportunities for growth into adjacent sectors and developing innovative ways to enhance the company’s service offering to clients.

DRA Group Holdings CEO Wray Carvelas said in a release to Creamer Media’s Mining Weekly Online that the appointment follows an extensive talent search, in which Julien distinguished himself as a thought leader with the required skills and experience to help the company realise its global growth strategy.

Prior to joining DRA, Julien served as VP business development and engineering procurement construction partner management at minerals and metals processing technology company Outotec.

A graduate of the Haileybury School of Mines, he has an MBA degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and holds executive and board level roles with the Canadian Mineral Processors Society and the Canadian Institute of Mines, Metallurgy & Petroleum.

From his primary base at DRA’s Toronto office, he will  embark on a global tour of the business in the coming months.

Having originated in South Africa, DRA now delivers mining, mineral processing, energy, water treatment and infrastructure services from concept to commissioning, from offices in Africa, Australia, Canada, China, India and the US.
