The Department of Transport (DoT) has issued a tender for the management and provision of general spectator transport for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The department is interested in securing the services of an operating management entity to procure, operate and manage interprovincial and regional road transport for spectators during the course of the World Cup.

The transport must be provided, on an integrated basis, by a combination of buses and minibus taxis in accordance with the transport schedules provided by the DoT.

The operating management entity would be responsible for all transport aspects including ticket sales and fare collection. The scheduled routes are mostly between Gauteng and other inland cities where matches will be played. Some coastal routes to and from Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban, have also been identified.

The closing date is February 22, 2010.
