July 2016 - Parker Hannifin Sales Company South Africa employees spent their 67 minutes in celebration of Mandela Day at the Nokuphila School on the 18th of July. 67 minutes was filled with reading time, face painting and a surprise visit from Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse.

"It was super awesome having your team at Nokuphila,” Aika Shedrack, Communications, Lovetrust

Evidence suggests that children who read for enjoyment every day not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures. In fact, reading for pleasure is more likely to determine whether a child does well at school than their social or economic background. To help spark interest in reading amongst the children, Parker Hannifin Sales Company South Africa also donated 67 reading books to Nokuphila School.

Nokuphila is a low fee independent school providing excellent Christian values based education to the most vulnerable children of Tembisa. Today, Nokuphila serves 300 vulnerable children from Grade 000 to Grade 5, and our plan is to grow with the 2010 pioneering children through to matric, and beyond. Nokuphila is part of the Lovetrust group.

Lovetrust is aiming to building the best township school in the country. The first initiative of the Love Trust was the establishment of Nokuphila School. Nokuphila - meaning ‘Place of Life’, was opened in January 2010 to 45 preschoolers from the township of Tembisa.
