Company Announcement - DMCC, the authority on trade, enterprise and commodities in Dubai, has been awarded the ‘Fastest Free Zone Growth’ accolade at the SME Stars of Business Awards Middle East 2015.

Krysta Fox, Director of Free Zone, DMCC, said: “At DMCC we strongly believe in creating optimal marketplaces for our member companies so that they can set up a business in Dubai, grow and innovate as efficiently as possible. To be recognised for fastest Free Zone Growth in the region is phenomenal and it goes without saying that this award belongs to the over 11,000 members based in our Free Zone as they continue to push the boundaries in a highly competitive environment”.

On behalf of the judging panel, Paul Godfrey, SME Stars of Business Awards Middle East 2015, said: “For a decade, the SME Stars of Business Awards Middle East have been amongst the most prestigious business events in the region, with a reputation based on objectivity and scientific evaluation of more than 2,000 entries across 23 industry categories. The recognition of DMCC as the fastest-growing Free Zone reflects the quality and dynamism of this global business hub and the judges and auditors of Stars of Business felt that this accolade was richly deserved on every level.” The DMCC Free Zone has grown exponentially from 28 to over 11,000 member companies who have set up a business in Dubai since its foundation in 2002. Today around 70 per cent of DMCC’s member companies are SMEs, representing every sector ranging from trading, shipping to recruitment, IT to advertising and fashion.

The broad spectrum of companies based in the DMCC Free Zone include MEPCO Gulf – a leading paper and board trader in the Middle East; to NSI Gulf – a fast growing technology consultancy and regional leader in Salesforce implementation; to Bluefish ME, a boutique events production house; and CommsIT, a leading IT and telecom solutions company that was recently ranked in the Top 100 SMEs in Dubai. The DMCC Free Zone is also home to large corporations including Alcatel Lucent Middle East and North Africa, American Express, Carrera Y Carrera, Colgate Palmolive, Harley Davidson, LVMH, Louis Dreyfus, 7-Eleven, and Nutricia Danone.

The Stars of Business Award 2015 recognises the very best SMEs across 22 business categories and attracted over 2,000 entries in 2015 from across the GCC.
