SEIFSA, the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa, held its annual Awards for Excellence event for the metal and engineering industry on 17 November 2023 at The Venue, Melrose Arch in Johannesburg. The event honours excellence, innovation and leadership while inspiring others to strive for greatness.

Dynamic Fluid Control Pty Ltd (DFC) received prestigious awards in two categories, namely Customer Service Excellence and Health and Safety.

Concerning the Health and Safety Award, DFC established a culture of ownership and responsibility across the workforce through the implementation of programmes such as the Process Ownership programme and the Visible Felt Leadership; thus making Health and Safety a collective effort. DFC’s proactive intervention led to the enhancement in compliance, which safeguarded the workforce and contributed towards the preservation of the company’s

ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications — underlining the effectiveness and significance of the interventions.

The Customer Service Excellence Award: DFC services two customer types — those engaged in commercial transactions and those directly interacting with the consumers of valves. DFC has a novel, quarterly, tailored Customer Journey Survey to guide understanding of the customers’ experience, as well as their needs. Every interaction, pain point and moments of happiness are tracked, resulting in DFC making customer responsiveness a priority; and, gauging and understanding the market perceptions and expectations. Thus, DFC could differentiate the company from competitors and enhance its mission as a world-class valve manufacturer! The loyalty of these customers reflects positively on both the DFC’s and the customers’ bottom line!

This was such a great achievement that the DFC group CEO, Lucio Trentini, and the DFC COO, Mlungisi Cele, organised a lunch for about 200 staff members at their headquarters on Monday, 21 November to celebrate these awards! Manglin Pillay, managing director, DFC SAMEA said, “This is African leadership on steroids!”

“DFC, a pioneering force since 1947, has evolved into a world-class, black-owned and-managed valve manufacturer. DFC always pushes the boundaries of innovation and quality in the industrial valve manufacturing sector,” explained Cele.

He continued, “What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to excellence and the ability to provide specialised solutions for unique pipeline challenges across various industries such as mining, municipal and industrial sectors.”

DFC’s Vent-O-Mat brand has been a trailblazer in the field of air valves and anti-shock technology since 1980. Vent-O-Mat air valves cater to a wide spectrum of applications, including potable water, sewage, irrigation — demonstrating DFC’s versatility in addressing diverse industry needs.

The company’s CEO, Tumi Tsehlo, emphasised, “Our commitment to innovation is solid and our dedication to providing cutting-edge solutions to industry challenges is testament to the evolution of the DFC brand — a legacy that DFC has proudly upheld since the 1940s!”

DFC has more than 300 employees across South Africa, Australia, Brazil, Finland and the United States of America.
