Gauteng-based Delberg Engineering specialises in tube manipulation and pipe bending, as well as specialised welding and the manufacture of components and assembly units. The 61-employee company is also a supplier of special metals for heating, cooling coils, brake lines and vacuum lines used in the smelter, locomotive, wagons, power supply, mining and petrochemicals industries. It also supplies heavy-duty copper bus bars and castings.

Established in 1989, the company is 51%-owned by Delberg Trading, with Lourens Delport (40%) and Thos Begbie (9%) being the other shareholders.

Delberg’s fixed assets are valued at R12-million and include computer numerically controlled (CNC) benders, a CNC ring roller, another ring roller, a press brake, cold-cut machines, a horizontal band saw, MIG and TIG welders, an elbow press and a tool room equipped with mills, lathes and drills.

Delberg’s premises, including its 1 800 m2 factory, are at 110 Rietspruit street, in Sunderland Ridge, Centurion, south of Pretoria.

The company is ISO 9001:2008 accredited for quality management and is working towards ISO 1400:2004 safety accreditation.

Its major recent contracts include the supply of pipe and plate assemblies to Transnet Rail Engineering for locomotive manufacturing and Corona manufacturing for Babcoc.
 

Delberg boasts a Level 2 broad-based black economic-empowerment status.
