De Klerk to step down as Exxaro FD
JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Wim de Klerk will step down as FD of diversified resources group Exxaro at end-August.
De Klerk was requested to, during this period, assist outgoing CEO Sipho Nkosi to coordinate the process of identifying and appointing a successor, as well as assisting with the transition process, finalising some strategic decisions on equity investments and the group’s new black economic-empowerment structure.
De Klerk would also oversee the conclusion of negotiations on addendum ten of the Medupi coal supply agreement with State-owned utility Eskom.
On joining Iscor in 1996, De Klerk managed Iscor Quarries and the Grootegeluk mine. He became a member of the executive team as group GM for strategy and continuous improvement in 1999.
During his tenure at Kumba Resources, he was responsible for the mineral sands operations and after Exxaro listed in 2006 became executive GM for mineral sands and base metals in 2008 until his appointment as FD in 2009.
