Creamer Media releases Water 2012: A review of South Africa's water sector report

14th May 2012

Font size: - +

Failure to adequately invest in water services and to collect, treat and reuse water efficiently – mainly because policymakers and economic planners do not fully appreciate the importance of water – is exacerbating water shortages in many parts of the world, including South Africa, and contributing to a situation where global demand for water could outstrip supply within 20 years, according to United Nations Environmental Programme estimates.

The political will to implement a turnaround strategy in South Africa seems to be there, and this gives hope that, in a few years, the country’s water sector will be a far cry from what it is today. This electronic report gives an overview of South Africa's water sector including details on water quality and availability, water supply and sanitation, water infrastructure, water demand management and conservation besides other issues.
