Corestruc recently became a member of the Concrete Society of Southern Africa (CSSA), a community comprising about 700 built-environment professionals who promote excellence in the design and use of concrete.

Corestruc is a leading designer and manufacturer of pre-cast concrete structures, with an extensive portfolio of completed projects, ranging from government civil infrastructure to private-and public-sector property developments. The company’s managing director, Willie de Jager, says the company remains at the forefront of innovation in modular pre-cast concrete construction technologies, and therefore looks forward to its interaction with other like-minded professionals.

“Being a Bronze member of the society, will provide Corestruc access to quality technical conferences, seminars and meetings that serve as an excellent platform for knowledge sharing, while strengthening our own existing research and development programmes and communication channels,” De Jager says.

Chief executive officer of the CSSA, John Sheath, says the independent society also fulfils its mission by hosting the Fulton Awards, a prestigious biennial event in the South African construction industry’s calendar that recognises and honours concrete projects and initiatives at the forefront of innovation and technology.

This complements an array of other networking opportunities hosted by the CSSA, including golf and concrete-boat racing days, as well as chairman’s breakfasts that also increase the exposure of its members to various built-environment professionals.
In addition, the society publishes a quarterly technical journal, Concrete Beton, and other relevant academic material.

Sheath says he is looking forward to Corestruc’s participation in CSSA’s activities and joining its other prominent members, comprising individuals, companies and academics, in promoting excellence in the design and use of concrete.
“We’re proud of our acceptance as a member of CSSA, and know that we have a lot to contribute,” concludes De Jager.

“Corestruc has played a leading role in showcasing the many merits of building with pre-cast modular systems. Its high quality pre-cast concrete technologies reduce construction times on important infrastructure-delivery programmes and contribute towards a more durable final structure.”
