Convenient label solutions for pharmaceutical goods

With the dangers and high sensitivity associated with the handling of medical and pharmaceutical products, the accuracy of storage, maintenance and distribution processes are of utmost importance, says on-pack packaging company Pyrotec PackMedia GM Timothy Beattie.

Consequently, the company has created the Fix-a-Form informational booklet labels for pharmaceutical products.

The Fix-a-Form is a stick-on booklet label that combines labels and product information; it can be easily placed onto pharmaceutical products.

Beattie highlights the importance of protecting medical and pharmaceutical goods against counterfeiting or incorrect storage, as well as the issuing of tampering warnings, which is essential for pharmaceutical products.

“There are multiple benefits to the Fix-a-Form. With informational booklet labels, there are fewer packaging components, which not only satisfies legislation but also simplifies logistics and reduces costs. Booklet labels also decrease inventory and improve security because there are fewer components to store, handle and check.”

He adds that packaging production lines can also be simplified by doing away with expensive carton equipment that can slow production; the insertion of leaflets by hand; and having to match several packaging elements, such as leaflet, label, and carton, together on the packing line. It also decreases the number of operators required to run the labelling production line.

The booklet labels are supplied on-reel for automatic application and are produced using standard labelling equipment. Applicators can be easily installed for temporary use of the labels, and any changes to existing production lines will be minor at most when applying the booklet labels to the product, explains Beattie.

“Fix-a-Form booklet labels adhere directly to and remain with the product, which means important user instructions are safe and secure. Security features can be incorporated into the Fix-a-Form label to deter counterfeiting. Tactile warning triangles and braille can also be added as options to alert the visually impaired when handling a potentially dangerous product.”

Fix-a-Form can incorporate the added value of additional instructions or information into the booklet label. Extra pages can provide space to promote related products, provide more information or add sample sachets.

“With reduced handling and inventory, as well as increased production speeds, savings are significant. The process is convenient for pharmaceuticals clients, as Pyrotec PackMedia can assist in converting the production lines if needed. With the need for reduced production costs and increased productivity, our clients have achieved significant improvements on production outputs using Fix-a-Form,” concludes Beattie.
