Local concrete equipment manufacturer and supplier Pan Mixers South Africa (PMSA), in partnership with flooring solutions company Galileo Trading introduced a new range of hybrid floor cleaning system to its range of HTC floor cleaning products.
The Diamond Cleaning System (DCS) Hybrid, which was introduced in Italy, in May, can be used to renovate heavily damaged stone floors, such as terrazzo and natural stone.
The new system combines diamond segments with HTC’s existing Twister technology, which uses a pad that is permeated with billions of microscopic diamonds to clean floors. The Twister system requires only water to mechanically clean and polish various types of flooring, resulting in environment-friendly, chemical-free cleaning.
The hybrid pad is designed to incorporate six additional diamond segments with the Twister pad. The segments and the pad are attached to a soft Velcro holder that makes it easier to put segments back in place if they should come loose owing to excessive lippage or screws in the floor layout.
Galileo reports the new system has an increased life span and the microscratch pattern on the segment has been improved to provide better grinding performance.
The diamond pads are available in 355 mm, 431 mm, 508 mm and 533 mm sizes and the detachable segments are available in two grit sizes.
In addition, the system can accommodate two types of diamond segments, namely the coarse DCS Hybrid black segment, which removes minor scoring, lippage, excessive wear and stains and the DCS Hybrid red segment, which prepares the floor for further treatment by removing scratches, wear and stains.
The hybrid scrubber fits all single-head scrubber machines and can be used on automatic scrubbers with a down pressure of 70 kg for large areas.
Further, Galileo Trading has appointed Swedish diamond floor cleaning expert Fredrik Toftemo head of Southern African Twister sales and support. Toftemo’s knowledge of Twister chemical-free cleaning will be of great value to the industry, reports the company.
It states that Toftemo’s appointment demonstrates the company’s commitment to the floor cleaning industry.
Meanwhile, the European Patent Office has approved HTC’s two remaining Twister diamond pad patent applications.
The newly patented applications comprise the use of diamond pads on polymer-based and stone or stonelike floors in combination with scrubbers or dryers.
Six HTC Twister diamond pad applications have been patented since 2005.
Meanwhile, an evaluation of the effectiveness of the Twister system, undertaken by the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, has shown that it reduces the bacterial content on hospital floors by 61% on average.
The system was tested at the Danderyd hospital, in Stockholm, Sweden, where it was compared with the hospital’s conven- tional cleaning system, which includes the use of chemicals, detergents, dry scrubbing, machine cleaning and mopping.
In comparison to the hospital’s usual daily cleaning method, the Twister chemical- free cleaning system also improved the hospital’s floor cleanliness by 35%, in addition, to reducing the amount of bacteria by 61% on average. The conventional cleaning method only increased cleanliness by 19% and decreased the amount of bacteria by 29% on average, the company reports.
