“The quality of these units, which arrive in South Africa completely built up, and their competitive pricing make them one of the more popular items that we have ever brought into the country,” FAW national dealer and retail manager Tommy Blake says.
One of the advantages of the FAW concrete mixers is that they are simple to operate and are not encumbered by complicated electronic technology.
“This is a very important attrib- ute. The tendency to overcomplicate the mechanics of these vehicles often makes them not only more expensive, but also difficult to operate. For these reasons, FAW has ensured that the mechanical properties of the concrete mixers are as simple as possible,” Blake says.
Stoner Mining & Industrial Solu-tions owner Stanford Dumbu agrees. Dumbu says that the concrete mixers are easy to operate and have given him outstanding service from day one.
“When I started my business two years ago, I thoroughly investigated the market and compared several leading brands. We decided on FAW because of the obvious quality of the vehicles, the significant price difference between them and other leading brands and the outstanding aftermarket support provided by the FAW team,” he states.
“South Africa is experiencing an unprecedented boom in construction and there is tremendous demand for concrete at sites all over Gauteng. The initial low outlay for the FAW vehicles has made a difference to my ability to start and build this company,” Dumbu says.
FAW South Africa posted a 30% increase in unit sales during 2006.

FAW South Africa was established in the early 1990s and operates from Spartan, Johannesburg. Apart from its dry and wet concrete mixers, its basic truck offering is in the medium to heavy, general-purpose segment.
