Global information and communication technology solutions provider Huawei has opened its first call centre in South Africa to provide its customers with local support.

“Huawei’s growth in the South African market necessitated the establishment of a local call centre and is part of our entry strategy for our new smartphone offerings,” says Huawei Device South Africa GM Larking Huang.

The facility will handle queries about Huawei’s smartphones, home gateways, tablets and mobile broadband service to provide customers with user-friendly mobile device experiences, he explains.
However, Huawei customers are still supported by their network service providers, which are responsible for their warranties. The Huawei South Africa call centre will provide additional technical support over and above what is offered by local operators.

Although the company says it has long-term ambitions to further expand its operations in Africa, there are no immediate plans for call centres to be established.

“We have an ongoing commitment to make great technology available to more people around the world. “Having our own local call centre enables users to receive direct feedback from Huawei on any queries they may have. “This reduces the amount of time in which queries are processed, resulting in increased customer satisfaction,” concludes Huang.
