Industrial components and tools supplier RS Components has announced the availability of a new online tool that makes it easier for customers in their selection of protective and safety eyewear for a range of industrial applications.

Targeting personal protection equipment (PPE) professionals, including buyers and end-users, the 3M Eyewear Product Selector asks a short series of questions to establish the most suitable PPE or safety product for the customer’s application.

RS Components says major considerations for protective eyewear users in industrial environments include serious hazards involved in the use of chemicals, for example, or environments where high-speed solid particles are flying around.

Other important criteria to consider in the selection process include expected light levels available for workers – whether the eyewear will be used indoors or outside. Another selection process is the level of user comfort required, especially if a user will be wearing protective eyewear all day and every day. The last check in the selection process is if a speci- fic user wears prescription lenses or not.
