Electrical equipment, industrial instrumentation and automation supplier Magnet’s electrical cable product offering was significantly enhanced by the company’s appointment as an official distributor for cable and cable connector producer Lapp Group in March this year.

“Lapp’s brand awareness and quality are well established in industry and the company’s quality product offering complements Magnet’s vision for the future,” says Magnet GM Kevin Govender.

Magnet MD Brian Howarth adds: “Magnet’s carefully structured expansion programme encompasses a strategy to extend its product range to meet exact market demand. The company has secured the exclusive supply, service and distribution agreements with some of the world’s most respected manufacturers. The addition of quality branded Lapp cables and accessories enhances Magnet’s service to a broader customer base.”

Lapp KwaZulu-Natal senior sales consultant Gary Livingstone points out that the company’s product offering “completes Magnet’s cable and connections offering to the industrial market as an end-to-end solutions provider”.

Important products in the Lapp range include the Ölflex Classic 110 range of oil-resistant and flexible-power and control cables, suitable for many applications, including control systems, assembly lines, control panels and data processing equipment.

The Ölflex Classic 110 connection and control cables are appropriate for use in power chains and applications with torsional movements, such as wind turbines.

Further, the latest Ölflex Classic 110 can withstand tempertures from –15 °C to 70 °C and can withstand up to –40 °C in fixed installations.

“The Classic 110 range is designed to cater as closely as possible to the individual requirements of Lapp Group customers. With 145 different dimensions and up to 100 cores, there are variants for virtually any application,” says Livingstone.

For more extreme temperature applications, Lapp also offers the expanded ambient temperature range of Ölflex Heat cables.

Further, to complete Lapp Group’s focus and drive to offer a complete end-to-end cable and connection solution to the market, Lapp combines the technology of all its notable eight brands within Lapp Group’s product offering into one solution offering to the customer.

The eight branded Lapp product ranges include Ölflex power and control cables, Unitronic and Etherline data communication cables, Hitronic fibre-optic cables, Epic industrial cable connectors, Skintop cable glands, Silvyn protective cable conduits and the Fleximark cable marking system.
