In early 2011, German company Wenglor was the first to succeed in integrating Ethernet technology into its sensor range. The latest product offering in the field of IF technology, is an Ethernet-compatible CCD Scanner that reliably recognizes barcodes at distances of up to 320 mm.

In its rugged aluminum housing, the CCD Scanner checks labels for completeness and correct quality of information and reads barcodes which are printed or laser etched directly onto glossy materials. Even barcodes with minimal contrast or poor printing quality can be detected by the CCD Scanner which works with red light.

Scanned codes and the status of inputs and outputs can be viewed at a single glance in several languages at the OLED display, which also offers intuitive operation. Inadvertent changes to selected sensor settings are prevented by password protection. The green “Good Read” LED mounted directly onto the scanner provides the user with clear-cut feedback on the current scanning status.

In addition to the graphic display, the CCD Scanner can be optionally configured with the help of a website setup especially for this product. Worldwide access to the website is made possible by a web server that is integrated into the CCD Scanner so that the website can be accessed with any browser and data can be read out quickly and easily from anywhere in the world. Remote maintenance is also made possible via this function.

Due to a uniform supply voltage of 24 V and protection of IP67, the Scanner is also suitable for harsh industrial environments and extreme temperatures from -20 to 50º C.

The CCD Scanner can be configured via an RS-232 serial port or an Ethernet interface and can be integrated into existing infrastructures. It can be operated with all Ethernet based communications platforms to read out and transmit barcode data to the master controller. System components connected via Ethernet allow for fast data transfer, easy read-out and analysis of process and service data, as well as location-independent configuration of sensors.
