South Africa's Competition Tribunal has unconditionally approved the R1-billion Bidvest-Viamax transaction, on Wednesday.

The commission has recommended that the tribunal, the highest competition authority in the country, approve the merger without conditions.

Bidvest acquired Viamax from State-owned Transnet, in May, and plans to incorporate the company in its Bid Auto unit.

Transnet sold the company in its restructuring process, which involves the disposal of noncore assets.
