Former PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) CEO Colin Beggs has joined the board of petrochemicals firm Sasol as nonexecutive director and a member of the audit committee.

“He brings a wealth of experience to Sasol, and we are delighted that he has accepted our invitation to join our board and audit committee,” Sasol chairperson Hixonia Nyasulu commented in a statement.

Beggs, who retired as CEO of PwC at the end of June, joined the company in 1970 and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1971.

He has also served on PwC’s global board of directors and had been chairperson of the board’s finance and operation committee.

Beggs also served as chairperson of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (Saica) and the accounting practices committee of Saica.
