Clough subsidiary secures owner’s engineer contract for US LNG project
US-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) consulting firm CH·IV, a subsidiary of engineering and project services contractor Clough, has been appointed as engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the Magnolia LNG project, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in the US.
The 18-month contract would see CH·IV provide technical and project execution support personnel to Magnolia, overseeing engineering, procurement and construction contractor KSJV, as the project moved through the detailed design, construction, commissioning and start-up phases.
Magnolia LNG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, was developing the eight-million-ton-a-year mid-scale LNG facility using its highly efficient and patented optimised single-mixed refrigerant LNG process technology.
The first of four two-million-ton-a-year trains was estimated to start exporting LNG in the last quarter of 2018.
CH·IV president Jeff Beale said the company was “delighted” to be supporting long-term client Magnolia LNG on this “iconic” project.
“CH·IV assisted Magnolia LNG through US utility Federal Energy Regulatory Commission permitting approvals and we are delighted to see this successful relationship continue through the owner’s engineer award,” he commented.
Clough global products and services executive VP Thomas Dockray said this was a key milestone for the group. “This groundbreaking project makes use of CH·IV’s high-value LNG owner’s engineering, advisory and consultancy services across the entire asset life cycle and represents another important step in establishing CH·IV as the partner of choice for LNG operating companies.”
Work on the contract would start immediately and was scheduled for completion in November 2016.
Clough is a subsidiary of Murray & Roberts.
