The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Southern Africa (CIPS SA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), in April.
Having undertaken the rigorous application process, CPUT is now an approved CIPS study centre, joining a group of institutions that offer CIPS international courses in Southern Africa.

These courses will be incorporated into CPUT’s supply chain management offerings, and the CIPS SA will also be represented on the future CPUT business school’s board of advisers.

‘We are pleased about this partnership, as this will provide avenues for our students to study further after completion of CIPS courses, starting in the second part of 2012. Articulation is a main focus area for us at the moment, and we are looking forward to working together not only in South Africa but also in the rest of Africa,” said CIPS SA head of professional development and education Carin Stoltz-Urban.

CIPS SA MD Andre Coetzee said that the organisation was eager to explore ways in which the two institutions could support each other in issues of mutual interest, like ethics and sustainable and green procurement.

“Our vision as a faculty is to be a leading provider of business education in Africa and beyond,” said CPUT dean of the Faculty of Business Professor Mzikayise Binza.
