The Chryso Group, with head office in France and represented locally by the Chryso Southern Africa Group, has announced another acquisition. The leading player in chemistry for construction materials, has expanded its admixture business in Ireland with the acquisition of Chemtec Admixtures Limited to provide an expanded offering to the growing Irish construction market.

Chemtec Admixtures - founded in 2004 and located in Dublin - has operated as the exclusive distributor of Chryso for over 13 years in Ireland, providing admixtures for concrete, demoulding oils and waterproofing agents mainly to precast manufacturers.

Chryso holds leading market positions in the USA, Europe and the Middle-East, Africa and Asia, and its admixtures technologies have been used in some of the most complex construction projects of the last decade. The Group has continued to grow organically and through a series of strategic acquisitions to strengthen its positions. A few months ago, it announced that it had signed an agreement for the acquisition of certain relevant assets of Ruredil S.p.a. in Italy.

Commenting on the new Irish acquisition, Thierry Bernard, CEO of Chryso, said: “We are extremely pleased to extend our geographical footprint in Europe with an acute focus on our client proximity. Our presence in Ireland will provide our customers access to the full range of services, high quality standards and technological capabilities of the Group.”

James Grace, founder of Chemtec Admixtures, commented: “Being part of Chryso offers Chemtec an exciting opportunity to expand its service offering, including technical assistance on jobsites, to concrete producers and to target the ready-mix market with its high technological products and world-renowned expertise.  The acquisition by Chryso will assist our customers in responding to the technical challenges of the booming construction market in Ireland.”

Grace will continue to run the Chemtec operations in Ireland.

The Chryso Group – which employs over 1 200 staff worldwide – has built its success on innovation, customer service, expertise and technical know-how. Chryso products and solutions have been applied on some most prestigious construction sites throughout the world thanks to the group's extensive network, which includes 21 foreign subsidiaries and covers more than 100 countries.

The company started its South African operations 22 years ago. Locally, the Chryso Southern Africa Group now includes a.b.e. Construction Chemicals, leading supplier of specialist construction products that complement the Chryso range of admixtures and ancillary products.
