International construction equipment manufacturer Chicago Pneumatic has been successful in securing an order from Facar (Angola) Lda for 46 diesel generator sets from the recently launched CPDG range. As part of the agreement Facar Lda has been appointed as the principal distributor of Chicago Pneumatic diesel generators for Angola.

Commenting on the agreement, Nagib Farouk Farhat, Facar Lda’s General Manager said: “This is an exciting opportunity for our company and it is our aim to establish the CPDG generator brand in Angola and position Chicago Pneumatic as a leader in the market. We see this as an opportunity to expand and consolidate our business, and believe we can achieve good results as the CPDG generator represents a high quality product at a competitive price. This is just the first step in what we hope will be a long and fruitful relationship with Chicago Pneumatic.”

Facar Lda, part of the Belgian Facar Group, has almost 20 years’ experience operating in Angola, having been established in the country since 1994. The company is involved in a diverse range of business areas, including selling and servicing motor vehicles, road, air and sea transport operations, warehousing and logistics. In addition to operating in Angola, Facar Lda also provides products and services to a number of neighbouring African countries including Congo and Gabon. On the decision to appoint Facar Lda as a distributor, Andrew Cope, Vice President for Business Development at Chicago Pneumatic, said: “With their professionalism, history, depth of experience and excellent customer service and support organisation, we see Facar Lda as a partner who will be successful in introducing the CPDG generator range to the Angolan market. This large and historic order is a significant move that further extends our global reach, and will enable us to build the Chicago Pneumatic presence in Angola and the wider region.”

In Angola, which is Africa’s second largest producer of oil and which has substantial mineral resources, there is a large and growing demand for mechanical generators. For this reason, Facar had been seeking a suitable range of diesel generators to add to its portfolio, and found that the new CPDG products from Chicago Pneumatic were ideally suited to the needs of its customers. “Placing an initial order for 46 generators may seem like a bold move,” said Nagib Farouk Farhat, “however we are completely confident that the versatile CPDG generator range is fully adapted to market conditions in Angola, where customers demand robust products that are mechanically well-designed and easy to maintain.”

With an established infrastructure that services motor vehicles in Angola, Facar Lda is also positioned to meet the service and maintenance requirements of customers who purchase a Chicago Pneumatic CPDG generator. As part of the distribution agreement, Facar Lda has extended its existing service operation to cover CPDG generator products. The company has an established team of service engineers in place, with experience working with generators, who are able to offer a door-to-door service that includes access to mobile workshops.

Key features of the new generators that are particularly important for Facar Lda and its customers include a robust design and a galvanized canopy for additional protection against the elements, plus a large forklift slot complemented by tie down hooks to ensure easy handling. CPDG generators are easy to operate with user-friendly instrument panels, backlighting on important gauges and displays, engine protection alarms such us high coolant temperature and low oil pressure and operation warnings such us low fuel level. Maintenance is straightforward, with easy access provided to all key parts. Oil and coolant drain points outside the canopy allow for easy removal of fluids. The generators are available in 50 Hz and 60 Hz versions, with rated prime power outputs of 13 kVA to 245 kVA prp. for 50 Hz models and 15 kVA to 251 kVA for 60 Hz models.
