To unearth local skills in the engineering sector, industry body Consulting Engineers South Africa (Cesa) on Monday launched its yearly Engineering Jobs Shadowing season for 2015.

Now in its seventh year, the job shadowing, which is run alongside Cesa’s Young Professionals Forum, offers school learners the opportunity to work in one of its 520 member firms’ offices in South Africa.

“Cesa is making a clarion call to the infrastructure and engineering clients from both the public and private sectors to join the initiative aimed at unearthing future leaders and engineers for South Africa,” it said in a statement.

Further, the organisation highlighted that the initiative boded well for the advancement of the country’s transformation agenda, persuading women and black people to pursue engineering opportunities and produce much-needed engineering skills to deliver infrastructure maintenance and development.

The initiative will run to the end of July.
