South Africa’s third mobile operator Cell C has reportedly signed a €240-million, or about R2,2-billion, deal, with the China Development Bank, according to a statement issued by a business delegation that accompanied President Jacob Zuma to China this week.

A spokesperson for Cell C said that the company would provide further details of the transaction on Wednesday.

The mobile operator is investing R5-billion in new network infrastructure this year.
