Specialised transportation, supply chain and logistics service provider Cargo Carriers has become the first freight company ever to win cement producer Lafarge’s Supplier of the Year award.
It won this accolade in November 2011. Following the signing of its contract with Lafarge in July 2010, Cargo Carriers began transporting bulk cement from Lichtenburg, Kaalfontein and Randfontein to multiple areas across the country. The freight company scooped the award as a result of its financial performance, customer performance, leadership and growth and its business compatibility.
Cargo Carriers joint CEO Murray Bolton says that the award was an achievement that the company is very proud of. He also highlights the importance of partnerships.
“Like many players in the powders industry, Lafarge demands the highest safety and environmental standards in transporting its products and partners with logistics companies that actively implement these standards on a daily basis. The highest levels of safety, health, environment and quality are non-negotiable, and so continually improving our standards is an ongoing challenge,” says Bolton.
Lafarge logistics optimisation manager Cathrine James says Cargo Carriers has been consistent in setting a high standard.
“Cargo Carriers consistently sets a high standard all round. We believe an excellent benchmark has been set for the 2012 Lafarge Supplier of the Year award,” she says.
