Construction of the multi-million-rand, five-star Blaauwberg Beach Hotel is expected to be completed by the end of August this year.

The Blaauwberg Beach Hotel is a luxury, environment-friendly
136-room, five-suite hotel located on the Blaauwberg beachfront, in Cape Town.

The development of Cape Town’s latest luxury hotel is being undertaken by local property
development company Realcor Cape Holdings.

Construction of the hotel, which started 18 months ago, is being facilitated by a significant investment by the investment and trade promotion agency of the Western Cape, Wesgro,

According to Wesgro CEO Angelo Manzoni, Wesgro has
facilitated the R600-million
investment by Realcor Holdings into the Western Cape’s property
sector.

In addition to facilitating the financial investment, Manzoni says that Wesgro has assisted Realcor Cape through expediting approvals and by providing supporting documentation to
access incentives for the innovative property developer.

Signficantly, this investment has created 1 500 contract jobs during the construction phase and will create 600 permanent jobs once the hotel has been completed,

Realcor Cape Holdings CEO Deonette de Ridder says that the Blaauwberg Beach Hotel will be the first green five-star hotel in South Africa, incorporating,
besides others, green energy fittings and recycled glass windows, and hopes that the development will set the standard for others in its class.

The environment-conscious hotel will be energy efficient, using more environment friendly
energy production means, such as ecosensitive electrical generators with solar panel appliances.

Ecofriendly paint and windows from recycled glass will also be used, including the addition of window overhangs and tinted
windows to reduce heat and glare and thus cut down on air conditioning required.

Solar water heaters, low-flow taps and shower heads, as well as energy efficient light fittings
and air conditioning systems, will also be used in the hotel rooms and the hotel’s basic heating will be derived from solar power, with a backup generator.

Décor and finishing touches in the luxury hotel will come from recycled material.

Carpeting and linen at the Blaauwberg hotel will be made from 100% natural fibres and the hotel restaurant will serve
organic food.
