Name and Location
Cameron liquefaction project, Louisiana, US.

Client
Subject to a final investment decision, the finalisation of permits and securing financing, Sempra Energy will have an indirect 50.2% ownership interest in Cameron and the related liquefaction project. The remaining portion of Cameron and the related liquefaction project will be owned by affiliates of GDF SUEZ, and Mitsubishi Corporation, through a related company jointly established with Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha and Mitsui & Co, each with 16.6% stakes.

Project Description
The liquefaction project will use Cameron LNG’s existing facilities, including two marine berths capable of accommodating Q-Flex-sized liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships; three LNG storage tanks, with a combined storage capacity of 480 000 m3; and vaporisation capability for regasification services of 1.5-billion cubic feet a day.

The completed liquefaction facility will comprise three liquefaction trains capable of exporting up to 12-million tonnes a year, or about 1.7-billion cubic feet a day of LNG. In addition, a new 34 km natural gas pipeline, a compressor station and modifications to existing pipeline interconnections are proposed.

Value
The total project cost is estimated between $9-billion to $10-billion, the majority of which will be project-financed, with the balance to be provided by the project partners. Cameron LNG expects to secure financing for the project during 2014.

Duration
Construction on the project is planned to start in 2014 with the first LNG production in 2017 and full commercial operation in 2019.

Latest Developments
Cameron LNG has awarded a joint venture between CB&I and Chiyoda International Corporation, a US-based wholly owned subsidiary of Chiyoda, a contract valued at an estimated $6-billion to construct the Cameron liquefaction project.

The scope of work includes engineering, procurement and construction for the addition of natural gas liquefaction and export facilities to the existing LNG regasification facility.
