Caledonia’s Blanket mine lifts Q2 output 20% y/y

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – TSX- and Aim-listed Caledonia Mining’s 49%-owned Blanket mine, in Zimbabwe, remains on track to produce a targeted 50 000 oz of gold for 2016, with the production of 12 509 oz of gold in the second quarter having been higher than planned.

Production for the quarter ended June 30, was 20% higher year-on-year and 16% higher quarter-on-quarter.

Quarterly production for the remainder of this year was expected to increase progressively to 14 000 oz by the fourth quarter of this year, as production from below 750 m increased.
