Business matchmaking sessions to be a hit again at exhibition

Following last year’s success, after it was launched at the colocated Securex and A-OSH EXPO exhibitions, the Business Matchmaking Programme expects to be an attraction at this year’s events, says exhibitions organiser Specialised Exhibitions director Joshua Low.

Low, who is also Securex and A-OSH EXPO events director, adds that the Business Match-making Programme – sponsored by biometric security solutions company Ideco – creates a space where visitors are matched up with the most relevant exhibitors prior to the exhibition.

This provides visitors with the opportunity to schedule their appointments prior to the exhibitions, thereby allowing them to effectively make use of their exhibition experience.

Low says Securex and A-OSH EXPO are considered to be leading exhibitions in their respective categories in Africa. Securex, which was launched 22 years ago, has continued to gain acclaim as the ultimate forum for industry professionals in terms of experiencing best practice in security and fire technology and services.

He adds that, similarly, A-OSH EXPO, which is now entering its sixth year, has become the unrivalled forum for risk and occupational health and safety (OHS) specialists in terms of interacting with suppliers and manufacturers of safety equipment and OHS consulting and training services.

“To be held from May 24 to 26 at the Gallagher Convention Centre, in Midrand, Johannesburg, the Securex and A-OSH EXPO exhibitions are big attractions for visitors who are quick to recognise the convenience of accessing a wide offering of products and services under one roof,” notes Low.

Moreover, he mentions that Securex’s free-to-attend Seminar Theatre brings high-end content from a variety of knowledgeable industry speakers who share information on the latest technology, trends and legislation. As a result, education plays a big role in what the visitor is offered at the exhibition and complements the products and services showcased by the exhibitors.

The seminar sessions bring visitors up to date on the critical information they need to assist in risk assessment and mitigation methodologies.

Meanwhile, Low adds this year will also see the debut of a cybersecurity conference and workshop. He reveals that Specialised Exhibitions has aligned itself with the Centre for Strategic Cyberspace + Security Science to offer South African businesses the opportunity to hear international cybersecurity specialists share their knowledge and research in a targeted one-day conference, with some of the proposed topics including insider threats and ‘hackenomics’.

Low notes that A-OSH EXPO will offer the ever-popular free-to-attend National Occu- pational Safety, Health and Environment Board Seminar Theatre and the Prefabricated Access Suppliers & Manufacturers Association Working at Height Theatre. Also, as in the past few years, the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health will be running its comprehensive conference alongside A-OSH EXPO.
