CEOs and business leaders working with government to foster inclusive growth have made significant progress in identifying new areas for investment and job creation, including the design of a funding instrument for investing in high-growth small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the Banking Association of South Africa (Basa) points out.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the association said numerous corporates were willing to invest in this funding instrument as a concrete statement of commitment to enterprise and job creation.

Basa said Sphere Holdings executive chairperson Jabu Mabuza and Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan would brief President Jacob Zuma in the next ten days on tangible outputs that would catalyse investment and the flow of funds to SMEs.

The association added that it would announce concrete deliverables in the next few weeks.
