The PG Group has appointed Charles Bromley, 50, to succeed Stewart Jennings as CEO from March 1, chairperson Ronnie Lubner announced this week.

Jennings, whose retirement was announced early last year, joined the company in 1971, when it was still known as Pilkington Glass South Africa. He has served in various capacities locally and in the UK and was appointed CEO in January 2000.

Jennings was also the founding chairperson of the Manufacturing Circle, which has emerged to become an influential lobby group for the interests of manufacturers in South Africa.

Bromley, who is a chemical engineer and holds an Institute of Marketing Management Certificate, joined PG from Nampak where he worked since 1997, most recently as group executive of the metal and glass divisions.

Prior to joining Nampak he spent 10 years with Afrox.
