Borssele III/IV wind farms.
Location
The project is located 22 km off the coast of the Netherlands.
Client
Blauwwind Consortium, comprising Partners Group (45%), Shell (20%), Diamond Generating Europe (15%), Eneco Group (10%) and Van Oord (10%).
Project Description
The project will have a total installed capacity of 731.5 MW and power an estimated 800 000 homes a year. It will comprise seventy-seven 9.5 MW wind turbine generators, the largest wind turbines currently in production.
The project will include a 66 kV interarray cable grid, offshore substation and mainland grid connection, which will be provided by TenneT, the national electricity transmission system operator of the Netherlands.

Capital expenditure for the construction phase is estimated at €1.3-billion, part of which will be funded through project finance.
Duration
The main construction work is due to start in the fourth quarter of 2019, with commercial production expected in early 2021.

The project reached financial close in July 2018.
Mott MacDonald is lenders’ technical adviser on the project and will now provide construction and operation monitoring services in an ongoing role.
