PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Blackham Resources has reported a 27% increase in its gold reserves at the Matilda-Wiluna operation, in Western Australia.

The reserve is now estimated at 26-million tonnes, grading 1.8 g/t gold for 1.53-million ounces of gold, while the free milling ore reserve has increased to 550 000 oz, a 190% increase since last year.

“An overall increase in reserves at Wiluna has shown the targeted drilling especially in the northern Wiluna mine has resulted in a significant increase in both free milling and sulphide ore reserves,” said Blackham MD Bryan Dixon.

“Openpit mining has now commenced at Wiluna to focus on the oxide material which is already providing higher-grade feed to the Wiluna processing plant and will set a foundation for the next phase of the Wiluna expansion.”

Blackham told shareholders that opportunities existed to expand the free milling ore reserves at the Lake Way, Golden Age and Wiluna deposits, based on drilling over the last six months.
