World Toilet Day  (0.03 MB)

Company Announcement - For one third of the world's population who have no reliable access to adequate sanitation, World Toilet Day is no joke. This day, first inaugurated in 2013, came about after the U.N. General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring 19 November as World Toilet Day. "We must break the taboos and make sanitation for all a global development priority," U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon was quoted as saying in declaring the inaugural World Toilet Day.

Bidvest Steiner, as a leading empowered corporate health and hygiene provider, will spend 19 November trying to draw attention to the plight of the 2.5 billion people worldwide for whom simply going to the toilet is not a simple matter at all. According to Rika van Rooyen of Bidvest Steiner, the company is in a unique position to appreciate the plight of those who - in the 21st century - still do not enjoy a fundamental human right.

"Bidvest Steiner is actively involved in projects aimed at educating people about health and hygiene practices. For example, there is a definite need when it comes to consumables such as toilet paper. It's all very well having access to flush toilets when there is no toilet paper available," concluded Ms Van Rooyen.
