The Competition Tribunal will consider the R1-billion Bidvest-Viamax transaction, which already received Competition Commission approval, on Wednesday.

The commission has recommended that the tribunal, the highest competition authority in the country, approve the merger without conditions.

Bidvest acquired Viamax from State-owned Transnet, in May, and plans to incorporate the company in its Bid Auto unit.

Transnet sold the company in its restructuring process, which involves the disposal of noncore assets.
