ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems  (0.11 MB)

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems’ automatic entrance and exit solutions facilitate passage at Lanseria International Airport’s international departures terminal as well as to offices at the facility.

First established in 1974 and located North of Johannesburg, Lanseria is South Africa’s only privately-owned international airport and the only other internationally accredited airport in Gauteng. Following a number of expansions and upgrades, including a R150 million project to construct a new runway to accommodate larger aircraft, the airport is today a key player in the aviation sector offering daily commercial flights on top airlines between Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and George. A number of leading charter companies also operate from the airport.

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems received orders for the supply and installation of two automatic door systems at the airport during 2016. The first, a Besam SL500 single entrance and exit door, was installed at Lanseria’s international departure terminal in Q2 2016. With the assistance of installation partner, Alufast Glass & Aluminium, ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems installed a second system, a Besam bi-parting SL500 sliding door mechanism, at the airport’s offices in Q4 2016.

Efficiently and conveniently guiding pedestrians, luggage and trolleys with a high degree of safety, the Besam automatic doors provide the perfect entrance and exit solution to Lanseria International Airport’s international departure terminal which is subjected to extremely high volumes of traffic flow.

The robust, feature-rich Besam automatic door systems are designed to deliver a comprehensive range of benefits that enhance not only a building’s entrance and exit with improved safety and security, accessibility, convenience and aesthetics but also to its interior through internal climate control. Designed for continuous use and maximum lifetime, the installation of automatic door systems offer cost saving solutions and lowest overall total cost of ownership for end-users.

An automatic door is only open when in use and closed doors save energy. By reducing the energy consumption of the airport terminal’s air-conditioning system, the effective operation of automatic doors help to optimise the overall efficiency of the building. In addition, by maintaining the air-conditioned atmosphere through controlling air infiltration, reducing heating and cooling loss and keeping out wind, dust, heat, cold and insects, the doors create a comfortable internal environment for travelers, visitors and airport staff.

The Besam solution includes directional sensors that close doors faster within ANSI standards to further reduce air infiltration loss. All sliding door operators are linked to fire alarm systems to ensure safe, easy and fast evacuation from the terminal and office area. Automatic doors are extremely hygienic since there is no need for users to touch doors or handles.

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, part of the international Swedish giant, ASSA ABLOY, leads the market in the manufacture and supply of secure, safe and convenient door opening solutions to widely diverse industries. The company combines local knowledge with global expertise and product innovation to provide world-class product and service solutions.
