Name of the Project
Bermondsey dive-under project.

Location
London, England, UK.

Client
Network Rail.

Project Description
The project forms part of the Thameslink Programme, which aims to untangle the track on the approaches to London Bridge station to reduce the time trains wait for platforms to clear and cut delays.

A new railway junction will unblock a major bottleneck on the approach to one of London’s busiest stations, allowing for more frequent and more reliable train services across large parts of south-east London.

The dive-under, on the eastern approach to London Bridge station, will allow for the Thameslink lines to cross over the Kent lines on their approach to London Bridge station. This will help increase the number of trains that can pass through London Bridge and travel north on the Thameslink route. The dive-under will be created by building a series of new structures along the line of existing operational railway viaducts, reusing existing structures wherever possible to reduce disruption and waste.

In addition to untangling the tracks on the approach to London Bridge station, Thameslink is rebuilding the station and creating a new street-level concourse.
